Rules and Safety Tips

Dear Mission Trip Organizer,

Thank you for choosing Camping Pros, Inc. for your upcoming mission trip to Mexico through Amor Ministries. We at Camping Pros want to help make your mission trip a fun, safe and memorable experience. To help us better serve you, please review the following points with your group. A copy of this will be sent to you to sign and send back with the paperwork. If you have any questions please call us at (619) 423-9575.

Families: Please do not take extra food from the food lines for the families of the houses you are building. Food is strictly for the groups we are catering to. We appreciate your cooperation on this.

Food Line: We have all heard the saying “Don’t byte off more than you can chew.” To reduce waste and ensure everybody gets a chance to go through the food line, please take only what you can eat. We often cater to multiple groups (especially during spring and summer months) and we want to make sure everybody gets a chance to eat.

Food times: Please do everything in your power to be at camp during meal times. Breakfast is served from 6:00AM to 7:30AM and Dinner is served from 6:00PM to 7:30PM.

Cooler/Igloos: We provide coolers and igloos (beverage containers) to take to the worksite with you. Please designate someone from each worksite to return them back to the kitchen staff at main camp.

Hot Water: Please do not take hot water from the beverage area for showers. The hot water we provide is for hot beverages only.

Brushing your teeth: Please be considerate to others and do not brush your teeth at the hand washing station near the food area. The hand washing station is for washing your hands only.

Waste: To reduce waste and help the environment, please reuse cups, plates and flatware as much as possible.

Staff Area: To ensure the safety of everyone, we ask that you stay out of the staff area behind the grills. The staff works long hard hours and need a place to call their own.

Respect Camping Gear: (if applicable) We understand that camping gear undergoes normal wear and tear, however, we ask that you discuss with your group the need to use the camping gear provided in the way in which it was intended. Zippers on tents are important to keep insects, reptiles, and small mammals from entering! Be sure to close the zippers carefully! If you have a problem with a zipper, let the staff know. Please keep all food and beverages outside the tents.

SOME SAFETY TIPS

These tips are just guidelines to help assure your group has a safe and healthy experience and is intended to compliment any information you have received from Amor Ministries.

Stay hydrated! Camping Pros will set up a beverage station on site with fresh water, ice, and lemonade. Water and Gatorade will be available at the work camps. Young Adults become dehydrated easily. The first sign of dehydration is usually a headache and irritability. Kids usually need to be reminded to drink water and by the time they feel thirsty, they are already on the way to becoming dehydrated! We suggest drinking a cup of water every hour during outdoor activity.

Wear sunscreen! Cloudy weather does not protect you from sunburn! Make sure to reapply if you are swimming or after exercise. Camping Pros has some sunscreen at the site available if you forget to bring some along!

Wash hands frequently! While camping, kids play in the dirt, use the porta-potties, and are often in and around areas where germs can be found! Camping Pros has a hand washing station at the campsite for your group’s convenience! Encourage your group to use it frequently and ALWAYS before eating!

Insects and other critters! Please be sure to ask if any of your campers are allergic to bees. If so, make sure they keep bee sting medication with them at all times. Use insect repellent to avoid mosquito bites. Empty cups of sweet liquids to discourage bees and wasps from visiting! Camping Pros will have repellent available for those who have forgotten to bring it. Squirrels, birds and other small mammals are wild animals. Do not allow your group to feed them. Feeding will encourage animals to become too familiar with people and may keep them from eating their natural foods. Do not handle wild animals. Keep your tents zipped and never store food in your tent.

Buddy System: Make sure your group never wonders off alone. Sometimes it is good to have kids find a buddy for the duration of the trip.

We appreciate your cooperation.
